Holden Village

Holden Village was a truly unique experience in my life. We found out about this opportunity through my Father-in-Law in 2012. It is a Lutheran mountain retreat center located in the picturesque mountains of Washington State, and has been there for 60+ years. People on staff work there for either a few weeks/months (short-term) or even years (long-term). We signed on in 2013 to serve for a year- myself as a Communications Associate, and my husband as the Village Mechanic.

My main duties changed by the day. Some days, I would take photos for various media (social media, website, etc). In others, I would work out creating layouts in Adobe InDesign for the Village Voice (our quarterly magazine). Sometimes I would create logos for different events. Every day was different. It was a joy to serve in this capacity, and I hope to one day come back, even if I was just a guest.
